Getting to Canada
From Europe and the Middle East (Lebanon and Israel), there are direct flights from all major cities to several different cities in Canada - the majority of which are non stop. There are several different airlines and charters that service these routes, making Canada incredibly easy to get to.
There are direct (many non-stop) flights from eleven East Asia/Pacific cities to both Vancouver and Toronto. Onward connections from both these airports are very quick and easy.
From Africa, connections would have to be via the USA or Europe.
Getting around
Given the size of the country, air travel is more the norm than train or coach travel. Distances between towns and cities are vaste, so air travel is often the only option.
For traveling within a certain region, train travel could be a viable option, especially in the eastern provinces. There is excellent train service between Niagara Falls - Toronto - Montreal - Ottawa and Quebec City. This is known as the Windsor-Quebec corridor.
There are trains in the west, but these tend to be used for tourism rather than a means to get about.
Driving is on the right. For people not accustomed to winter driving, extra care will be required as stopping distances are doubled on snowy or ice covered surfaces.
Bringing a vehicle to Canada
It is very difficult to register a vehicle in Canada that has been brought from overseas. Given the cost implications, it is advisable to buy another vehicle in the country. It is, however, possible to bring a vehicle over on a temporary basis. Given the cost of shipping, this is not an option many people choose. For more information, please check the following document:
